NEC launches latest SpectraView LCD monitor for pre-press applications

NEC Display Solutions has unveiled the latest iteration of its SpectraView 241 LCD monitor for colour-critical digital image processing, professional media design and print workflow applications.

The screen, which delivers 10-bit Professional In-Plane Switching (P-IPS) panel performance, also offers a native resolution of 1920x1200dpi.

According to the manufacturer, the SpectraView 241 features digital uniformity control and backlight ageing correction.

The LCD is pitched at users that "cannot accept compromise" on colour accuracy, including pre-press proofers, designers, photographers, precision engineers and desktop publishers.

The SpectraView 241 LCD also features 14-bit Lookup Table (LUT) for hardware calibration, which is claimed to give precise colour control while 3D LUT colour space emulation provides for 42-bit colour control and gamma correction.

Available from this June, the monitor can be calibrated using the NEC's SpectraView Profiler 5 calibration software.

Christopher Parker, product line manager of professional displays at NEC Display Solutions Europe, said: "We pride ourselves on creating vibrant, high-quality displays across every range

"But some users require perfect colour reproduction, and for these people the SpectraView range is the de facto benchmark."
