Mitsubishi HiTec Paper Europe has raised prices for its coated specialty papers again.

In a statement the business, a German subsidiary of Japanese company Mitsubishi Paper Mills, said it has been forced to make the move as a result of “the recently continued rise in prices for energy and raw materials”.

The price adjustments of up to 10% will apply to deliveries from 1 June 2021 and Mitsubishi said customers would be contacted directly by its sales team.

The move follows a previous 5% price increase on deliveries of the company’s entire Jetscript range of coated inkjet papers, which came into effect from 1 May 2021.

The Mitsubishi announcement is the latest in a long line of recent price rises from paper makers. In the last week alone, Austrian manufacturer Lenzing Papier and Netherlands-headquartered Crown Van Gelder have also laid out plans for their own price increases.

A briefing in the current issue of Printweek looks in more detail at the perfect storm of factors that has resulted in the slew of paper and ink price increases over the last few months.
