McKenzie Clark appoints Baker Tilly for wide-format consolidation play

McKenzie Clark has unveiled plans to embark on a consolidation drive in the wide-format market and build a significant group by the end of 2012.

The south London-based large-format printer, which works in the retail, cosmetic, sports, interiors and events markets, is looking to expand its services, markets and geographic base.

"There are many opportunities in wide-format print and the sector is forecasting growth," said managing director Graham Clark. "The key for success is achieving economies of scale combined with an efficient well run business. As an industry we need to move away from our cottage industry roots and become professional with a clear business model."

It has appointed Baker Tilly to advise it on mergers and acquisitions, and is already in discussions with one target.

"Baker Tilly has helped us build our business plan and is now advising us on potential acquisitions and strategic partnerships," said Clark.

The firm will also advise McKenzie Clark on funding.

Clark added that target areas included finishing, logistics and installation services, superwide and fabric digital printing, niche screen print and sectors such as visual merchandising and interiors.

The appointment of Baker Tilly to advise on M&A follows wide-format veteran Ben Moss joining as commercial director and taking a stake in the company in April.
