The machine, which was supplied by HP reseller Perfect Colours and installed in mid-December, has replaced a Mimaki JV33.
“We’ve already got a Latex 360, which we use a lot, so decided to trade in our Mimaki for the Latex 560,” said Humphreys Signs director and owner Will Humphreys, who founded the business in 1969.
“We prefer the Latex technology, it just suits the way we work and staying with HP and keeping it all the same makes things simpler when we buy the inks.”
The 1.6m-wide Latex 560 runs at maximum speeds of up to 91sqm/hr in single-pass mode. The seven-colour (CMYK plus light magenta, light cyan and a Latex Optimiser) machine uses Latex inks and can print at a maximum resolution of up to 1,200dpi.
It has a spindle-less pivot table and automatic skew adjustment, which HP said enables a minder to load the roll in one minute or less.
Denbigh-based Humphreys Signs has 20 staff and turns over just under £1m. The company has a separate unit dedicated to screen printing, which Humphreys said is still proving popular.
It produces work including estate agent boards, election signs and posters, safety signs and stickers, shop signs, construction signs, banners and vinyl graphics for clients nationwide.
