Heidelberg manufactures 4000th Suprasetter

The 4,000th Suprasetter has rolled off the production line at Heidelberg's Wiesloch-Walldorf site in Germany, seven years after the platesetter was unveiled at Drupa 2004.

Belgium-based Smurfit Kappa, which ordered the CTP in question - a Suprasetter 162 with automatic case loading, was on hand to take part in a ceremony to mark the occasion.

"We opted for the Suprasetter because Heidelberg offers a mix of state-of-the-art solutions and high-quality service that we believe is unrivaled in the print media industry," said Patrick De Jaegere, operations manager at Smurfit Kappa.

According to Heidelberg, the highlight of the Suprasetter is the in-house developed laser technology that lies at its core. The series began with the Suprasetter 75 and 105, the hallmark of which was their modular design and the potential they offer for automation.

"The market success of the Suprasetter proves that Heidelberg is able to use this top-of-the-range technology to meet the highest customer requirements worldwide," said Marcel Kiessling, board member responsible for Heidelberg Services.

Including the predecessor models Trendsetter, Prosetter, and Topsetter, Heidelberg has installed more than 10,000 platesetters worldwide since 1997.
