The digital press was installed in Hartgraph’s 1,300sqm facility in Amersham, Buckinghamshire in November. A 140sqm mezzanine was added to the premises at around the same time.

The Versafire was brought in to run alongside an existing Linoprint C751, which has been retained as Hartgraph looks to expand its digital print operation.

Hartgraph managing director Steve Walters declined to reveal how much the company paid for the press. 

"We have an existing C751, which is great, but the new machine has enhanced the quality of our offering in terms of presentation of image, while also its registration capabilities are tighter and it has the ability to print on a larger sheet," said Walters. 

"We kept the 751 because the world of digital is a growing area so having both those machines means they can work in tandem."

Previously known as the Linoprint CV prior to its Drupa name change, the machine prints at maximum speeds of 2,700 A4sph and 2,400 A3sph at a maximum resolution of 1,200x4,800dpi. It prints on a variety of substrates of 52-360gsm, and can print white and clear spot varnish. 

£4.5m-turnover Hartgraph employs 40 staff and is looking for a 30% sales boost this year. It is anticipating taking on another operator in the next few weeks for the press. 

Founded in 1984, it moved to a factory double the size of its previous one in 2015 and at the same time invested in a new Speedmaster XL 75 with coater. It also runs a five-colour SM 52, as well as a Stahl guillotine, a Stahl KD 66 folder, an ST300 stitching line and a Horizon BQ-160 perfect binder.
