Cartonboard packaging manufacturer Glossop Cartons has been shortlisted in a major regional manufacturing awards scheme.
The Stockport-based firm has been shortlisted in the Manufacturer of the Year award (under £25m) category of the Made in the North West awards, which celebrate the cream of the region’s manufacturing sector.
Last year the business achieved turnover of £11.5m, up 32% from £8.7m the previous year despite the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.
It has been one of the most successful trading periods for the company, which has been supporting its key customers throughout the pandemic and keeping pace with any additional packaging demands.
Glossop Cartons managing director Wayne Fitzpatrick, who led a management buyout at the business in February, said: “We are thrilled to be up for this prestigious regional award, which celebrates the achievements of some of the finest manufacturing firms in the North West.
“It’s been an exciting time for Glossop Cartons since the management buyout in February and we have sustained impressive growth and made successful in-roads into new markets.
“It means a great deal for us to be up there alongside some of the region’s top manufacturers and for our team to be recognised for its expertise and hard work.”
The winners will be announced at a black-tie event at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester on 28 July.
Established in 1982, Glossop Cartons produces cartons, sleeves, wallets, blister pack cards, skin pack cards, counter-top and shelf displays, header, and hanging cards.
It serves customers in sectors including FMCG, pharmaceutical, personal care, automotive, and household.
The business, which currently employs 100 staff, runs Mitsubishi presses and finishing kit from Highcon, Bobst, and Brausse. In late 2019 it expanded its floorspace by more than 50% after taking on the 2,300sqm industrial building next door to the 4,140sqm production units it was already operating from.
