Fuller Davies sales director James Robinson dies, aged 56

James "Jimmy" Robinson, sales director of Ipswich print company Fuller Davies, has died of a heart attack.

Robinson, who joined the printing industry 40 years ago, was part-owner of the firm with financial director Heather Davies and managing director Neil Stones, who took over the company in a management buyout in 2008.

He was an active member of his community, serving the Suffolk seaside town of Aldeburgh as mayor from 2008 to 2009. He was also commodore and vice-president of Aldeburgh Yacht Club and an avid supporter of local rugby.

Robinson was committed to the environment and ensuring green practice across the print industry, recently speaking at a Suffolk Carbon Charter event which had awarded Fuller Davies the Silver award for environmentally-friendly practice.

A passionate supporter of the World Land Trust initiative Robinson led Fuller Davies to become a carbon-balanced print firm through buying land in the Amazon rainforest to save it from clearance.

Colleagues at the firm, where he had worked for 15 years, said Robinson was a great salesman who developed close friendships with his large number of loyal customers.

A statement issued by the company said: "His manner was relaxed and he exuded rare qualities of warmth and understanding with both his customers and his work colleagues. He will be missed greatly by his customers, colleagues, his friends and his local sailing community. He was a fun loving person who lived life to the full."
