Crane: back from sunny Australia just in time for the British winter

Friedheim International has recruited a Brit back from Down Under as its new sales director.

Darren Crane took up the new role in September.

He previously worked in the UK printing industry for more than 25 years, including at MBA Group, Anton Group and Cambrian Printers, before relocating to Australia a decade ago.

For the past three-and-a-half years he has been sales and accounts director at long-standing print and marketing services business IVE Group, headquartered in Sydney.

He has returned to the UK for family reasons.

Friedheim International said his appointment would drive growth and expand the company’s horizons as the Hemel Hempstead business approaches its 140th anniversary.

Managing director Mark Bristow told Printweek: “Darren’s appointment is for a combination of reasons, in part succession planning with regards to our sales structure as well as future development,” he explained.

Bristow said it would also free up his time as the business looks to grow in new areas, and following the loss of its long-standing MBO-H+H agency.

“I want to ensure we manage the growth effectively,” he added.

“Darren has been very involved in the print sector through his time at Anton, Cambrian and others and has a lot of experience with book printing and publishing. This is a new role but also relevant for future planning.”

Friedheim said Crane would bring a wealth of competence in sales leadership and a demonstrated track record of success to the new position.

The firm will celebrate 140 years in business in 2024.
