Fespa UK will hold its first event of the year, an open discussion based around its current waste management program and sustainability in print among other topics, in March.

The association’s ‘Future of Print Industry Forum’ will take place at Hatfield House in Hertfordshire on 10 March 2022. Employee wellbeing, business development, and how to adapt for the future will be among the other topics covered.

The afternoon event will begin with a networking lunch, which will offer delegates the opportunity to meet the event’s sponsors and learn more about how they are supporting the industry. The day will then take a conversational format, featuring a panel of industry experts and printers who will engage with the audience to answer questions, discuss strategies, and offer an insight into their own business models.

Fespa UK said over 40 printers had so far registered for its waste management program and that this day will represent an opportunity to move the initiative forward.

The association said the event will enable likeminded printers to come together and help to create a real infrastructure for waste collection, not only of the initial requested materials – PVC banner and polypropylene – but to discuss other materials that printers struggle to collect enough of to recycle or can’t find an outlet for the substrate to go to other than landfill or incineration.

Fespa UK managing director Suzi Wilkinson said: “This open discussion is about coming together as a community, making a change together, and making a lasting commitment as an industry for the future.  Fespa UK is all about community and if we work together, we are so much stronger than when we work alone.”

The day will also focus on employment and the importance of maintaining a healthy mindset for workforces within the printing industry, while a business coach will give advice and guidance on adapting for the future, offering delegates a varied discussion that will look at business development as a whole.
