Elanders boosts flexibility with HP buys

Elanders Group has signed a deal for five HP (Hall 17) presses in a multimillion-euro deal as it moves further into packaging and personalisation markets in Sweden and Germany.

Elanders Sweden has ordered an HP Indigo 7900 and two B2-plus HP Indigo 12000s, to replace its current three 7600s at its Stockholm and Gothenburg sites respectively, and its first HP PageWide Web Press T240, destined for Gothenburg in a two-month installation starting next month. A further 7900 is going to Elanders Germany.

Elanders Sweden managing director Gustaf Albert said changes in the marketplace meant customers are increasingly demanding more flexibility. Vehicle makers such as Volvo and Scania, for example, want personalised manuals for each sale and expect an annual 5% increase in efficiency.

He added: “This will change the business in a number of ways – it will have a massive impact.”

Elanders has been a HP customer since 1999. Albert said: “It’s the quality and the flexibility – simple as that.”
