EFI buys Prism Group to continue MIS consolidation

US-based MIS/ERP giant EFI has bought Prism Group Holdings, owner of the Prism WIN MIS and Prism QTMS automated shop floor management software, for an undisclosed sum.

The deal, which follows EFI's purchase of PrintStream MIS developer Streamline Development in February, continues its acquisition-led strategy to expand its global customer base.

"Following in the footsteps of PrintStream, Prism is another example of our consolidation strategy," said Marc Olin, senior vice president and general manager of EFI's APPS business unit.

"We continue to actively seek out additional print ERP/MIS solutions worldwide to consolidate."

Australia-based Prism Group has more than 7,000 Prism WIN users in 10 countries, including the UK and throughout continental Europe, and 200-plus installations of QTMS in 14 countries.

EFI will not market either product to new customers, although it will continue to support and develop the renamed EFI Prism and EFI QTMS for existing customers, while offering them incentives to switch to one of EFI's four platforms.

EFI also plans to embed the best features of QTMS in its Auto-Count DMI shop floor data collection tool.

EFI's four MIS systems are EFI Monarch, for large single and multi-plant operations, EFI Pace, for SME commercial and wide-format printers, EFI PrintSmith, for on-demand, copy shop and micro printers, and EFI Radius, for labels, folding cartons and packaging operations.
