Double Ricoh buy for Lola Print

Lola Print is enjoying "exceptional print results" after overhauling its press room and installing a Ricoh Pro C7100 and C5100.

The digital and wide-format printer took delivery of the two new machines in the first week of August. The devices have replaced a Konica Minolta bizhub C650, at the Aldermaston, Berkshire-based business.

The 90ppm C7100 has a fifth colour station for applying white, or a spot or flood clear gloss finish. It prints on stock up to 360gsm with a top resolution of 1,200x4,800dpi, and can also produce banners up to 700mm in length. The C5100 has a top speed of 65ppm.

Design director Tony da Franca said: “The new Ricoh Pro C7100 has opened up new possibilities for our clients. The press is already in full production, with exceptional print results, and operators on the shop floor love the precise front-to-back registration.”

Managing director Anna Croucher added: “It’s produced a lot of interest in the longer length print sheets we can use now, which we couldn’t use before. We have other local printers coming to us that are unable to do that themselves and have had to go further afield previously.

“The gloss spot varnish feature is also rather nice and we’ve already seen requests for that from existing customers who are interested in it.”

The business also operates HP Latex and Canon wide-format printers and offers finishing services including wire-binding, laminating and encapsulating in-house.

Lola Print produces items including business cards, training materials and exhibition banners for the trade as well as business customers. Digital work makes up around 60% of the four-staff company’s £215,000 turnover, with wide-format work making up the remainder.
