Digital wallpaper is star of The Gadget Show thanks to Landor Phototex

Large-format print got its 15 minutes of fame last month when UK TV programme <i>The Gadget Show</i> featured digital wallpaper in a challenge to find the easiest way to decorate a house.

As a result, Landor, the firm that distributes the Phototex material used in the show, has been inundated with enquiries for home murals.

"Since the show was aired we’ve had hundreds of people asking for home murals," said Landor managing director Derric Landor.

It was part of a themed programme ‘gadgets vs pros’, which pitched the presenters armed with the latest technology against seasoned pros using their well-honed skills.

In the interior decoration section, veteran handyman Tommy Walsh armed with traditional paper and paste was up against presenter Suzi Perry using Landor Phototex self-adhesive fabric digital wallpaper.

The ability to digitally print Landor Phototex enabled Perry to personalise the wall, while its ease of use allowed her to produce a professional-looking job without experience.

"Phototex's unique and patented adhesive combined with its high quality fabric texture makes it ideal and easy for anyone to apply, position, remove or reposition indoor or outdoor without the usual difficulties attributed to the more common vinyls on the market today," said Landor.

The material can be printed using a wide-range of processes including water-based, solvent, latex and UV inkjet, litho and laser printing, is available in reels and sheets and can also be contour cut. The firm distributes Phototex in Europe, South Africa and the Middle East.
