Kent-headquartered Delga hosted a group of other printers at its Rochester factory and offices on Wednesday (9 March), where they were able to see the company’s HP Indigos in action and assess whether the technology would be a fit for their own businesses.

Titled ‘HP Real Possibilities Live’, the second day of the event yesterday saw some of Delga’s customers and members of the press attend the site.

The first presentation yesterday saw group managing director Ian Conetta outline the history of the company and its current service offering.

He said that over the years the business had “gone on a real journey of diversification”, particularly due to the changing shape of the markets for CDs, DVDs, and vinyl that it has served for many years. But he said the recent resurgence of vinyl had been “really good for us” and that 35-40% of the company’s turnover is still media related.

Its move into other areas though, he added, has seen it branch into different sectors of packaging. He hailed the abilities of some of the company’s kit in helping it to diversify, including its HP Indigo 12000 HD and Indigo 6900 digital presses and its Highcon Euclid III digital laser cutting and creasing machine, all of which were demonstrated during the day.

Other presentations saw Abel Sanchez, who oversees EMEA brands and agencies innovation at HP, show delegates some of the major brand personalisation campaigns that had been produced using the company’s kit and software. Samuel Ward, customer success manager at Highcon, then highlighted the capabilities possible with its machinery.

A change of ownership at Delga Group last year resulted in a new name for its holding company, which became The Meliora Group. Trading across two sites, the group consists of Delga Press, Delga Labels, CSP, Scarbutts Printers, and TT Litho.

Together they offer a wide range of services including design, packaging and laser cutting, labels, litho and digital printing, and fulfilment.

The long-established CSP business specialises in printing and print management for the public sector, education and private medical sectors, while the Delga Labels wing was set up in 2020. Delga Press was established in 1960.
