Print and document delivery specialist Datagraphic has stepped up its sustainability after partnering with climate and sustainable development expert ClimateCare.
The Chesterfield-headquartered business, which also has a site in Rugby, has chosen to offset its carbon emissions through a range of programmes, which improve health and reduce deforestation and the impact of carbon in some of the world’s poorest countries.
Datagraphic business manager and head of sustainability Joanne Hawxwell said: “Sustainability is a key driving force in our services to businesses, enabling them to work in climate-conscious and efficient ways by streamlining documentation and reducing paper and ink use.
“That mindset is integral in our own business which is why, as well as continuously seeking and implementing ways to reduce our carbon footprint at our two sites, we’re now partnering with ClimateCare to offset any unavoidable emissions.”
Datagraphic is already investing in energy saving systems and working to rigorous environmental management standards. After starting the partnership with ClimateCare in the summer, it said the real benefits of offsetting are “already impacting people’s lives within this first quarter”.
The business will also be supporting ClimateCare’s global programmes including the LifeStraw Carbon for Water Project, which delivers safe water to more than 4 million people in Kenya, generating significant carbon reductions and enhancing the health of local communities by reducing exposure to waterborne disease.
Other projects include the provision of clean cookstoves in Ghana, which significantly improve health while cutting emissions and reducing deforestation.
“Working with [ClimateCare] is helping us understand how we can integrate action to tackle climate change and improve people’s lives around the world,” added Hawxwell.
