Datagraphic in Xerox tie-up

Datagraphic has become the first UK company to buy Xeroxs new magnetic ink character recognition-enabled Nuvera to enhance the security of its transactional mail.

The commercial security printer is investing 400,000 in two Xerox Nuvera 144s with MICR toner modules after beta-testing them for a year.

The black-and-white presses use electromagnetic toner to print high-security materials such as the numbers found at the bottom of transactional mail.

A reader then magnetises the ink, translating the information into digital characters, so that the information can be verified.

Datagraphic managing director Scotch Kirkpatrick said: "We chose the Xerox Nuvera MICR because it lets us reach new markets and guarantee business growth in transactional print, which has increased by more than 30% a year in the past three years.

"One of the key benefits is its ability to combine transactional documents and personalised marketing messages."
