Chartley Coffee has installed the UK’s first MVZ digital packaging printer from Rigoli in order to enhance its in-house packaging production.

The Hixon, Staffordshire-based coffee supplier moved to on-site printing with the January arrival of the new MVZ1000 roll-to-roll system developed by Italian manufacturer Rigoli. It was supplied by UK reseller Reprocad.

The 1m-wide system will support the production of flexible packaging for Chartley, as well as personalised short-run promotional packs.

Managing director Owain Antcliff said: “Using the MVZ, we can print up to a metre wide onto accurately wound jumbo rolls. This functionality means that we can offer a wider range of solutions for our customers and enable us to be more responsive and add value to our offering.”

Powered by Memjet printheads, the Rigoli MVZ1000 prints at resolutions of 1,600dpi at 9m/min or 1,600x800dpi at 18m/min. It uses an industrial unwinder and rewinder that can accommodate jumbo rolls.
