Bluetree invests in new CTP for W2P arm

Bluetree Design & Print has installed a new Heidelberg Suprasetter A75 to boost efficiency at its new web-to-print arm Route One Print (www.route1print.co.uk).
The brand was launched nine months ago and the company has installed the new device as a result of increased booklet orders over the past two months.
“Since investing in a bookletmaker, the response that we have had from our trade customers has been phenomenal. We are really carving out a niche for ourselves as the people to turn to for fast-turnaround, short-run, high-quality booklets,” said Route One Print channel manager Jack Willmott.
Rotherham-based Bluetree already attributes 50% of its turnover to the new W2P brand and managing director Adam Carnell said it could even reach 70% by the end of the next financial year.
The previously digital-only business added litho to its services around 18 months ago after installing a Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 52 Anicolor. Subsequently it has moved into the B2 format. Its Web2print system is developed in-house and fully automates the order to dispatch process.
Carnell said: “We have seen a week-on-week increase in volumes and now our average B3 run is just over 1,000 and in B2 is about 2,500 to 3,000 with digital mopping up the shorter runs.
“We realised that we could further optimise our hub by adding a second CTP system, enabling us to get our plates out faster,” he added.
