B-Print invests 2m to cater for increasing point of sale work

Increasing workloads from both new and existing clients, including work for the UK's largest retailer, has led B-Print to invest 2m in an Agfa Anapurna XL digital press and a four-colour upgrade to its Thieme screen printing line.

The two-year spend also includes the installation of a new four-colour KBA Rapida and an Agfa Excalibur platesetter at the Northumberland company.

The 62-staff firm installed the Agfa Anapurna to handle point-of-sale work for clients, which includes 3,000 stores of a major UK retailer.

The Anapurna digital press can print at resolutions of 635 x 800dpi at sizes up to 250cm wide on roll or rigid media. It can also handle clear plastics and vinyls as well as paper-based substrates.

B-Print managing director Will Skelchy said the Anapurna will be "a real asset for campaign work, for creating a prototype such as dressing a store before expanding it across the whole estate."

The Cramlington firm has also extended its two-colour Thieme 5060 to a four-colour system, which will be used for printing outdoor display graphics.

Skelchy said the screen kit will be used for jobs where litho isn’t as effective. He said: "Screen is a process that shouldn’t be overlooked by any buyer because it can be the most effective in giving impact."

The £6m-turnover firm has also invested in a four-colour KBA Rapida, which will spread the workload from the printer's Oliver and B1 Komori presses.

Skelchy told printweek.com: "We've always tried to be as customer-focused as possible and this is reflected in our growing sales."

B-Print offers litho, digital and screen printing facilities as well as fulfilment and a design and consultation service.
