A seven-strong team from the Basingstoke-based firm worked with members of the Chineham Conservation Group for a day earlier this month to restore and coppice an overgrown area of Great Sorrell’s Copse that has supported local birds and plants for the past 400 years.
Arjowiggins Graphic national key account manager Julian Long said: “The core focus of our business is to mitigate the impact of our manufacturing processes on the environment and helping to restore our local woodland fits well with these values.
“The Copse had been neglected for over 30 years, so we had a big job on our hands and worked really hard to return this area to the coppice lifecycle.”
Chineham and Popley Conservation Volunteers secretary David Glover added: “The support from local businesses, such as Arjowiggins Graphic, is incredibly valuable as we need many hands for the crucial process of coppicing.
“Clearing the overgrown areas in this way sustains the long-term health of the woodland and provides a more suitable habitat for the thriving wildlife.”
Arjowiggins Graphic offers high quality coated and uncoated recycled papers. The branch is part of materials and paper manufacturer Arjowiggins, which has 5,000 employees and 22 paper mills worldwide and generates sales of around €1.4bn (£1.1bn). Arjowiggins is a fully owned subsidiary of Sequana.
