Antalis acquires 28m packaging business

Paper merchant Antalis McNaughton has expanded its packaging business after purchasing Ambassador Packaging.

Following the acquisition, which was completed on 3 January, the Winsford, Cheshire-headquartered specialist packaging business has been rebranded Ambassador Antalis Packaging.

The addition of Ambassador's £28m annual sales has more than doubled Antalis's packaging turnover, although PrintWeek understands the newly-acquired company will continue to operate as an independent business.

Formerly owned by Pregis Corporation, Ambassador supplies a wide range of protective packaging, including the Jiffy bag range. Other products include tapes, corrugated board products, bubble wrap and strapping machines.

As well as its Winsford base, Ambassador has a number of regional sites across the UK, employing around 100 staff. It will report in to Antalis Packaging Business Unit, which is based in Germany.

A statement from Ambassador said: "Working within the European Antalis Packaging Group will bring many future benefits such as an extended logistics network and the ability to offer a much wider range of packaging materials, systems, solutions and services not only in the UK but all over Europe."
