Amari Plastics continues wide-format push with GPT acquisition

Amari Plastics has continued its push into the wide-format market following its acquisition of Berkshire-based kit supplier Graphic Printing Technologies (GPT).

The deal, which was completed on 2 July, has been described as an "excellent acquisition" by Amari and one it said fits neatly within its product portfolio.

Robin Howard, chief finance officer of Surrey-based Amari Plastics, said: "In a very short period, the company has grown to become a key player in the industry and has demonstrated exactly the sort of business acumen and approach we want to bring into our corporation.

"We will support GPT in its ongoing business objectives and fully expect the relationship to be hugely beneficial both in terms of profitability and market presence."

GPT will continue to trade under the same name, although not as a limited company, and will become part of Amari Plastics. It will also move to a new larger UK facility complete with demonstration and showroom facilities.

Stuart Cole, general manager of GPT, added that the key message to its customers and suppliers was that the acquisition would enable the company to both maintain and improve its business.

"GPT will still be in control of its own destiny and we will continue to provide the unrivalled service and support that has helped us grow to the position that made us attractive to Amari," he said.

GPT supplies a range of wide format print equipment from companies, including Canon, Epson, HP, Mimaki, Seiko, Agfa, KIP, GBC and Seal.

Earlier this year, Amari Plastics expanded its product range, taking on 3A Composites' portfolio of substrates after it ended its distribution deal with Robert Horne.
