Abbey Print expands trade service with Horizon combination folder

Commercial printer Abbey Print has expanded its trade finishing service with the installation of a Horizon AFC564A combination folder from IFS.

The Spalding-based company will replace a 12-year-old machine with the B2 system.

Director Aubrey Howling said: "We had been thinking about upgrading our folder for a couple of years. With tighter delivery times, getting jobs out of the door faster is very important and the folder will help us do that.

"We can easily complete short runs as well as the longer 125,000 runs that we do at least three times a year. We are also confidently promoting folding within our customer base. Now we have the flexibility and capacity we are offering folding as a trade service."

The machine features a colour touchscreen and includes four buckles and cross knife for a wide variety of fold patterns. It has also been supplied with an MKU-54 detachable mobile knife.

Abbey Print uses two B2 five-colour Komori presses and a Ricoh ProC900. The company has a £1.75m turnover and employs 23 staff.
