Neve is 22 and began working in the printing industry in May 2018, when some part-time work turned into a full-time role at Leeds-based Northern Flags

What did you study, and did you have a particular career in mind?
A-level Business, IT and English. I had no idea what career I wanted!

How did you find your way into the industry?
I helped out for a couple of weeks during a busy period, I was then offered a full-time position

Did you know anything about print beforehand?
Not a thing!

What does your role entail?
Prioritising daily workflows including inbound calls, quotes and sales-related enquiries. Building and maintaining relationships to promote long-term business growth

What’s the most enjoyable or interesting thing about it?
Building client relationships and ensuring we are the chosen supplier for their printing requirements

Do you have an ideal career path mapped out?
My ideal career path would be an account manager – business development manager – managing director

What would be your dream job (print related)?
Managing director of a print company or franchise

What would be your dream job (not print related)?
To have my own company

What has surprised you most about working in the printing industry?
The impact print has in our everyday lives and the thought process behind it. For example, the artwork and colours, the chosen material and the size to get the brand message across to the consumers

What could the printing industry be doing more of to entice millennials into print?
Offering more apprenticeships

I would change the week to a three-day working week and four-day weekends
