In the early 1990s, Data Image’s now-CEO Robert Farfort began designing prototypes and integrating Apple Macs with vinyl cutting machines in the garage of his childhood home. “A true pioneer of the industry, Rob recognised a gap in the market for digital printing and with the help of his father, Alan Farfort, Data Image was born”.

Where are you based?
Data Image
is based in a village called Narborough near Leicester. Minutes from the M1 and M69 and with a direct one-hour rail link to London.

How many staff do you have?
Currently, 60 but we are constantly growing. In the past year we have two new departments, employed three apprentices and two university graduates, and moved across to 24/5 production to keep up with demand.

What does your firm do?
Printing directly onto virtually any rigid surface or rolled material, examples of our work include bespoke ceiling panels; custom flooring; custom wallpaper; illuminated graphics; stretch fabric graphics and 3D display units.

What equipment do you run?
A fleet of 15 cutting tables, including Kongsbergs and Zunds, as well as housing Europe’s largest Duratrans capability in-house.

What’s your USP?
We are home to the world’s first Esko Kongsberg robotic digital cutting system, an innovative piece of kit which fits in perfectly at Data Image

What’s been your proudest achievement in the past few years?
It has to be this past month, rebranding with a new logo and website while collaborating with Strictly star, Kristina Rihanoff and rugby ace, Ben Cohen, on the graphics and cardboard furniture for their new wellbeing centre in Northampton

Where do you see your business in five years’ time?
Continuing to lead the way in offering eco-friendly and alternative green options as part of our end-to-end service, hopefully increasing sustainable solutions within the print industry as a whole

What’s your team’s favourite biscuit?
Tough one – we’re going to have to go with a classic custard cream!
