Wotton Printers in Ryobi 524HE press investment

Wotton Printers has boosted its offset firepower with the installation of a B3-format Ryobi 524HE press in response to a growing demand for four-colour production.

The Newton Abbot, Devon-based company is using the new machine to replace an existing Ryobi 522HE-NP press, although it will retain that machine's numbering and perforating unit.

According to Wotton Printers managing director Roger Mann, increased demand for four-colour print drove the business to update its pressroom capabilities.

He said: "The demand for four-colour print meant that we needed to look at additional capacity.

"By swapping out the two-colour machine for a four-colour press, but retaining the numbering and perforating capability, we can manage our workload more efficiently."

Wotton is using the press to produce a range of work, including monthly local newsletters and newspaper inserts with run lengths between 8,000 and 10,000 copies.

The new press will complement the company's existing Ryobi 525GX with IR dryer, which was installed in late 2008 alongside a Screen 4300 CtP system for processless plate production.

"We can still produce our jobbing work, but use the second press to full capacity with the extra four-colour production," added Mann.
