Spin Print produces custom-printed wallpaper for Barnsley FC

Fans of Barnsley Football Club will be able to re-live one of the club’s finest moments thanks to a local printer.

Spin Print is marking the club’s new season in the English Football League Championship by producing custom-printed wallpaper for the club’s two new executive boxes.

The wallpaper graphic, which captures the League One play-off final at Wembley in May, was commissioned as part of Spin Print’s sponsorship package with the club.

The vinyl print rolled off an Agfa Anapurna M2050i large-format printer that was installed earlier this year, said director Glyn Johnson.

“This is the first time we've done a wallpaper, which measured around 2m by 5m, and we hope it won't be the last.

“We've invested quite heavily in recent months and may look to buy a cutting table in about six to nine months.

“Cost and value for money will be important for this type of equipment – there are pieces of kit that do the job at less than half the money of an expensive item.”

His firm, which has 27 staff and £2.2m turnover, works regularly with Barnsley FC, producing merchandise such as half-time draw tickets, business cards and posters.

Spin Print co-director Dan Brook said: “With the club gaining promotion last season they wanted to do something special to celebrate.

“The capabilities of our new flatbed press mean we are able to produce one-off wallpaper. We can print on different sorts of wallpaper including textured.

“But we went with a special wall vinyl material with a matt laminate to give the image extra durability.”

Barnsley FC commercial manager Ian Leech said: “The graphics produced by Spin Print are absolutely superb and capture the moment perfectly of our play-off final win.”

The commission follows big investment by the firm. Spin Print recently upgraded its digital capacity with the addition of an iGen4 digital press as part of a £400,000 investment.

Earlier this year the South Yorkshire company bought the Agfa Anapurna M2050i large-format printer to cut turnaround times and outsourcing needs.

Brook said: “Our recent investments mean we now have a great digital suite to cope with the quick turnaround demands required by our customers.”
