Speedscreen rolls out Christmas campaign for Schuh

Maidstone-based Speedscreen has combined its digital and screen printing technologies to roll-out a festive campaign for high street retailer Schuh.

The company has produced 60 retail kits for the shoe chain, which involved using its Durst Rho 800 flatbed to print directly onto 5mm black Foamex using a double white underneath the image.

"Utilising the Caldera RIP’s options, we were able to boost the colours giving very vibrant reds and greens. The sheets were then overprinted by screen process with metallic gold and then screen printed with glitter in various places," said Tim Hill, managing director at Speedscreen.

The company then cad-cut the images using its Esko Kongsberg cutter/router table, including the sections to install LED lights, 30,000 of which were fitted across the stores.

Hill added: "The campaign included self-cling window decals. These were printed with backlit colours via the Durst 800 and various other elements on box board which again utilised both digital with the Rho 800 and screen printing.

"It highlights the crossover that exists between the two processes, but more importantly the real need for us to have both options in house for certain jobs."
