Screen to debut next-gen Truepress at Innovationdays

Screen's next-generation Truepress, the Jet520HD, will have its show debut at Hunkeler Innovationdays in Lucerne, Switzerland next month (23-26 February).

The Truepress Jet520HD, which was launched in September 2014, will be running live print jobs for a variety of applications at the show, alongside its predecessor the Truepress Jet520.

These will include high-quality cookery books, which will be delivered to the Hunkeler/Horizon stand for perfect binding, and short-run magazines and a complete set of Hunkeler brochures in five different languages, which will be saddle-stitched on the Screen stand.

The two inkjet web presses will also print a ticketing application for the Hunkeler laser perforating line.

Screen's Truepress Jet520HD features the same 520mm web (as the Jet520) but an all-new paper transport, new drying techniques, new printheads and new screening technology.

As a result it can handle stocks from 40-250gsm and can print at up to 50m/min at 1,200dpi resolution or 120m/min at 600dpi resolution; the maximum print speed of the Jet520 is 128m/min at 360dpi resolution.

The new printheads also support variable size droplets, which are said to maximise quality while minimising ink consumption. The machine's modular design means additional printheads can be added in future to upgrade it from the standard four-colour device.
