Wiltshire print company Ripe Digital has become the UK's first customer for the Mohr 56 ECO guillotine.

The automatic machine arrived at the Corsham facility on Friday (11 January) and is already fully operational.

The print team eyed the machine on its visit to Drupa, when Watkiss Automation was securing the rights to become a UK distributor of Mohr.

At the time, Ripe Digital took on a Lamibind 420 perfect binder from Watkiss Automation but it was not until Christmas that it placed an order for the 56 ECO at £16,000.

Penny said that its 198 program memory locations was an influential factor in choosing the 56 ECO to replace the company’s nine-year-old "basic" guillotine, which was without even a calculator.

The 56 ECO comes with an integrated Direct Positioning System for greater cutting accuracy and runs at a speed of 20 cutting cycles an hour.
