Ricoh signs up for perfectly timed PrintWeekLive!

Ricoh has become the latest major manufacturer to sign up to PrintWeekLive!, where it plans to launch a new colour press.

The firm will be using the show, which takes place on 8 and 9 March at the Wasps Arena, Coventry, to build on the high level of interest its latest kit and applications drew at last year’s Drupa.

According to Gareth Parker, head of new marketing services, Ricoh UK, the timing of the show was one of the big draws, coming almost a year after Drupa when a lot of what the company unveiled at the quadrennial global show is coming on stream.

“Of course I could say the format, and the education piece [at PrintWeekLive!] are clearly going to be attractive to visitors, and that’s important to us, but timing was the main factor.

“It’s well positioned to enable us to bring the technology we demonstrated and hinted at at Drupa, and also comes at the turn of the financial year, when a lot of people are starting to affirm their investment plans.”

Ricoh will be bringing the Pro C7100SX colour digital press with a fifth unit and will also show the neon toner it previewed at Drupa. The 80ppm C7100SX was one of the presses tested for Ricoh’s successful ISO 12647 colour certification.

Alongside the C7100SX it will also be showing the Color-Logic special effects process software it demonstrated in Dusseldorf.

“If you’re looking for consistent colour and the best use of the fifth unit on a range of substrates: then Color-Logic enables you to process jobs quicker, ensures colour consistency and, more importantly, it helps lays images on metallics better.

“So what we will be doing on the stand is showing people what the Color-Logic process looks like alongside the C7100SX and the neon toner. We’ll also flood the stand with lots of different applications that proved really popular at Drupa.”

Parker also said that the company will be launching a new colour digital press at PrintWeekLive!, but that he was holding back on the details until nearer the event.

Ricoh will also be hosting two workshops, one on each day of the show.

The sessions will be titled 'Improve efficiency: work smarter not harder' and will demonstrate how visitors can adopt a new approach to lean manufacturing processes to benefit their businesses.

“What visitors will be able to get from the workshops are real-world examples of how printers have been able to expand capacity, without increasing floorspace, and reduce costs significantly, by streamlining processes, particularly on the shop floor.”

Parker stressed that the sessions have been designed not just for users of Ricoh technology – or even just digital users – but will share simple lessons that are relevant to all print businesses, commercial and corporate.

PrintWeekLive! is the only 2017 UK event that Ricoh has committed to exhibit at so far.

“The focus for us right now is making PrintWeekLive! a positive and successful show,” said Parker.

Other exhibitors already confirmed for PrintWeekLive! include: Canon, Kodak, Konica Minolta, Heidelberg, Riso, and Xerox.
