RDW holds event to celebrate book launch

Printer and bookbinder Riley Dunn & Wilson (RDW) has held a reception to celebrate the launch of a new book by former Waddington's chairman Victor Watson.

The literary luncheon, attended by companies from across Yorkshire, also helped raise money for the Prince's Trust.

Printed by Huddersfield-based RDW, The Waddingtons Story is one of the larger runs of a single book undertaken to date by the firm, which launched its on-demand digital division in January.

The book has already gone into a reprint with a total of 615 hardback and paperback copies ordered so far.

At the event, Charles Dunn, managing director of RDW, presented Watson with a special edition leather-bound copy.

One book was also auctioned to raise £2,000 for charity and another special edition copy was presented to the Lord Mayor of Leeds.

Dunn said: "This book is a fantastic example of the capabilities of our newest service. The fact that we were commissioned to produce it for such a well-liked and respected member of the printing industry and raise money that will be used to encourage entrepreneurship among youngsters was a bonus, and makes all of our staff very proud to have been involved.

"I hope we can raise in excess of £10,000 for the Prince's Trust."

Watson added: "The book started as the story of my grandfather. I did it for the family. It involved Waddingtons and I had his own account and that of a close colleague of my fathers."
