The Zahara waterless plate has been launched as a competitor to Toray waterless plates, and is compatible with all sheetfed and narrow-web waterless models. It is rated for up to 100,000 impressions.

“The unique selling point of this plate is it is totally chemistry-free, we process through water, which dramatically reduces chemical waste disposal costs,” said Ian Pollock, product director EAMER.

The open-platform, 100,000-impression thermal GemPlate is designed as an alternative to established Agfa, Kodak and Fuji systems. It features a pH-neutral biodegradable solution, requires no pre or post baking and is designed to be very easy to use, said Presstek.

The third launch, the VIM JT-BL direct inkjet aluminum plate, is designed for use on Epson printers “up to the Stylus Pro 7900”. The plate can be used directly for impressions of 5,000 or less, or baked for runs between 5,000 and 20,000. 

The manufacturer will also be talking to Ipex visitors about its repositioning following a period of consolidation last year, and its increased emphasis on refurbished versions of Presstek DI presses.

“We are majorly investing in our reconditioned offering,” said Ralph Jenkins, director of worldwide sales and marketing.

He added: “People forget we actually invented the first thermal chemistry free plate. So we want to get the message out to say ‘we’re still here’.”
