Pragati Offset is International Printer of the Year

Pragati Offset has bagged the prestigious Sappi International Printer of the Year 2010 award. This is the third year in a row for Pragati, having won the coveted cast-bronze elephant trophy in 2006 and 2008.

The Hyderabad-based Pragati has been declared by Sappi as one of the world's eleven best printers for 2010.

The winning entry was Black Dog Reserve - 18 Years Whiskey- rigid box which has been printed on the Sappi Magno Satin 170gsm.

Narendra Paruchuri of Pragati Offset attributes the strong showing to a dedicated team. "The equipment and the technology are the same for everyone. But it's a only a wonderful and passionate Pragati team, which takes us to compete and win at the global level and be the best."

The packaging for the job is very robust with a 1.75 mm solid board that can take high impact and load. The outer sheet was printed on metallised PET with white, CMYK and bump blue colour background. It was matt laminated to have a subtle yet elegant sheen.

The other techniques include gold foiling, spot UV, outer wrapping, online texture and gloss on the metallised PET and thermoformed tray to hold the bottle.

In congratulating the winners, Ralph Boettger, chief executive officer of Sappi said, "Despite the press extolling the virtue of electronic media and the demise of print, the printed word remains powerful and pre-eminent in all forms of communication, be it for marketing purposes or just for pleasure."

It has been raining awards for Pragati. On 26 August, they bagged the prestigious 'prism' as PrintWeek India Packaging Printer of the Year for the same job. Besides this, they won two more 'prisms' for Fine Art and Brochure Printer of the Year.
