What’s at the top of your Christmas wish list this year?

Peace and goodwill, on both sides of the Brexit debate!

What trend (business or technology) do you think 2017 will be remembered for?

Businesses preparing for life after Brexit and fluctuations in the exchange rate.

What do you think will represent the single biggest opportunity for printers in 2018 and why?

GDPR. Inserts provide advertisers with the benefits of targeted marketing without the need to handle personal consumer data.

What do you think will represent the single biggest threat for printers in 2018 and why?

Increased paper prices and the continued weakness in the pound.

What’s the one thing that the industry should do more of, or do better, in 2018?

Continue to promote the benefits of print and debunk much of the exaggeration surrounding the effectiveness of internet advertising.

What was your biggest disappointment in 2017?

England failing to win the Grand Slam in Dublin.

What was your highlight of 2017?

The commissioning of our new Ferag UniDrum which is significantly improving productivity.

What are your hopes for 2018?

That advertisers will finally realise internet advertising is the emperor’s new clothes.

What was the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

It’s your job to make the complex simple.

What was the most important thing that you learnt in 2017?

That being 50 is no different than being 49.

What if anything will you do differently in 2018?

Finally lose a few pounds.

What’s your favourite Christmas cracker joke?

What does Santa do with fat elves? He sends them to the Elf Farm.

What was the best Christmas present you ever received?

The one my wife is going to give me this year, even though I don’t know what it is yet!

Are you making any New Year's resolutions? If so, what?

No, because it’s a surefire way not to do anything about it.
