Wolverhampton printers Lion FPG has invested in a Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 75-5+L litho press which it will install this month.

The press will run alongside an SM 102-5+L and a CD74-5 to print full colour reports, brochures, prospectuses and similar jobs.

The B2 five-colour with coater features Impress Control, also by Heidelberg, which measures, monitors and adjusts colour and register mid-run.

Joint managing director Jim Delaney, said the press, which has a maximum speed of 18,000sph and a fast makeready time, has allowed the company to work more efficiently with its existing staff.

"It will allow us to provide a high-quality option at a competitive price despite the continuing increase in energy and raw materials costs," he added.

Delaney said the company returned to Heidelberg because of the anilox coating technology shared between its machines. He is also impressed with the potential of Impress Control and is busy inspiring staff with its commercial value. He added that the service at Heidelberg was of a high standard.

Lion FPG services blue chip clients in the commercial, manufacturing and public sectors from sites in Wolverhampton and West Bromwich. It operates digital and B2 and B3 litho presses.
