KPM eyes acquisitions following site move and turnover growth

KPM is on the hunt for acquisitions as it looks to build on a two-year expansion programme that has seen it invest in new capital equipment, staffing and a move to a larger production facility.

The Swanley-based print and mailing house, which recently rebranded from Key Print and Mailing, has grown turnover by 20% in the last 18 months and is forecasting sales for 2012 to hit the £4m mark.

KPM has already trebled its floorspace to 1,115m2 by moving into its new London Road, site, which it is renting on a five-year lease.

The business has also invested more than £580,000 in new equipment, doubling its enclosing capacity with a new Buhrs BB300 Solo and boosting its digital print firepower with a Kodak Digimaster EX 138 production system.

Client services director Marian Lively said the company, which is in the midst of its busiest time of year, is now undertaking the second part of its expansion.

"The past two years have been defined by investment in technology, facilities and taking on the best people for this company," she said. "We will now assess the market for similarly-sized businesses in our sector with a view to acquire.

"We've expanded internally but the acquisition of other mailing houses will not only enable us to boost production facilities for our clients but to grow that customer base too."

KPM caters for a range of clients that include local government authorities, housing associations and publicly-traded companies.

In addition to its Kodak and Buhrs machinery, the ISO 9001, 14001 and 27001-accredited business runs kit that includes full hand enclosing facilities, a Konica Bizhub PRO C6500e and Astrajet inkjet printers.
