JKM Offset boosts its digital printing capacity with Ricoh C720s

Delhi-based JKM Offset has invested in a Ricoh Pro C720s digital press with an EFI Fiery controller at its Okhla unit for short-run commercial and book printing work.

The sole proprietorship firm is owned by Deepak Bhattacharya.

"This digital machine gives great results with sharpness, clarity and mat finish. Currently, we are printing 2,000 A3 sheets per day. Buying Ricoh was a conscious decision, as we had evaluated other presses and done our homework with a comparative analysis. The after sales service team at Ricoh is attentive and always at our disposal."

The Ricoh Pro C720s prints at the speed of 72 sheets per minute and can handle a print thickness of 60 to 300gsm paper and up to 13x19.2 inches in size. The machine offers a variety of finishing options like stitching, folding, inserting, punching and booklet-making.

To cater to the publishing and commercial printing segment, JKM Offset has a four-colour Adast 745 and a single-colour Heidelberg, offset machine. JKM Offset operates round the clock in a 3,500 sq/ft rented premise with 12 employees.

"It’s been just three months and we have churned out more than two lakh A3 sheets on our flagship Ricoh printer," boasts Bhattacharya. The five year old firm prints covering notes for life insurance companies.

Throwing a light on digital v/s offset debate, Bhattacharya said: "Digital printing provides cash as compared to offset, that’s why we opted for digital. Past one and an half year, paper prices have gone up by 20% and you can imagine the printing cost, but we are still working on the same rates."

JKM Offset has a clientele of 70 customers among which the digital occupies a majority share of 70%. The firm consumes approximately three tons of paper for its offset printing and 60,000 A3 sheets for digital per month.
