James McVicar installs MBO folder

Commercial printer James McVicar Printing Works has installed a 60,000 MBO T535/44 Efficiency buckle folding machine at its site in Glasgow.

The folding machine, which was supplied by Friedheim International and is the first of its kind to be delivered to Scotland, is a replacement for the £1m-turnover company’s "ageing" Stahl. Also supplied with the folder was an A56 mobile stream delivery to boost operator benefit and productivity.

Owner Jim McVicar said he chose the MBO folder because it was superior to other models that he considered.

"It is well built, reliable, easy to operate, and highly productive," he added. "One of the biggest benefits we have noticed with the new MBO since installation is that we are now running the folder every day of the week, as not only more, but a greater variety of work, can be handled on it."

The James McVicar Printing Works was established in 1949 and has been based at its current site in Glasgow for 20 years. The company offers printing and finishing services including brochures, leaflets, magazines, business cards and labels with run lengths between 200 to 80,000.
