Intelligent Finishing Systems launches latest Horizon single-clamp binder

Horizon has given a UK launch to its latest single clamp perfect binder, the BQ270V, which cuts turnaround times on single-run jobs by a third on conventional models, according to supplier Intelligent Finishing Systems (IFS).

The newest addition to Horizon's perfect binding portfolio features a variable set up and a digital calliper as standard so while one book is cycling, the next book of a different thickness is measured, with the data transferred, and the binder set up.

According to Horizon, the variable software, which was first developed for Horizon’s BQ470 four clamp perfect binder, allows for "true on-demand production" in the field of personalised titles and photobooks.

Alan Harrison, technical director at IFS, said the new BQ270V is the product of a "highly responsive research and development division" at Horizon.

He added: "The result is systems like these that enable print operations of all sizes to cost-effectively implement changes to capitalise on market opportunities.

"Online ordering is driving demand for runs of one so operations require a fast, efficient and flexible perfect binder like the BQ270V."
