Integra showcases new CP Bourg and Sitma kit

A new CP Bourg PUR binder that is the first in the world to use a new gluing system from Nordson is on show at Ipex on the Integra International stand.

The CP Bourg BB3002 PUR-C is fitted with the new, compact Nordson PUReONE system. As well as being space-saving, it also features a special system to stop the adhesive from solidifying.

The automated binder has a top speed of 285 books per hour, and can also run EVA glues. “So you can switch at the press of a button,” explained Integra chairman Iain Buckham.

It handles books from 1mm to 60mm in thickness, and from 100x100mm to 385x320mm in size.

“The one key thing about this machine is the build quality and the longevity. It’s an industrial solution,” he added.

To further increase productivity and automation the BB3002 can be fitted with the Bourg Book Loader (BBL), allowing operators to load up to 120 books of mixed formats to be automatically bound.

“It takes less than six minutes to load it up, then you just leave the machine to get on with the job for up to 25 minutes. It frees up the operator and means an hour’s production requires just 12 minutes of operator time,” said CP Bourg market analyst Cathy Vaessen.

Buckham added: “One of our customers described it as ‘load and leave’.”

The BB3002 costs circa €65,000 (£54,000) and the BBL around €25,000.

The system can also be configured to run inline to a press, or with a fast sheet feeder.

The two companies are also highlighting CP Bourg’s BM-E Express inline bookletmaker for HP Indigo 7000-series presses.

The machine is on test now with European customers and a nearline version will be launched in the autumn.

Separately, the firm is targeting its Ultimate Barcode Solution at printers operating in an automated document factory type of environment. “This machine guarantees cover and book block integrity with no mismatches possible and zero errors,” Vaessen stated.

Integra is also showing kit from some of the other companies it represents, including a 30,000cph Sitma paper wrapper and a new Sitma book covering machine which will automatically measure the size of book is presented to it, and then create a protective plastic cover to each individual book’s precise size.

The protective covers can also be overprinted with branding or corporate details using a thermal printer.

Buckham said he expected to seal a UK sale imminently.

Integra International is on stand S3-E250 at the show.
