IFS to showcase new technologies at Print Efficiently 2012

Intelligent Finishing Systems (IFS) will host the UK launch of Horizon's SPF/FC200L bookletmaker and Foliant's Mercury 400 SF laminator at Print Efficiently this week.

The open house has attracted a raft of pre-press, consumables, litho and digital printing, and finishing suppliers who will showcase their products and expertise at IFS’ Perivale studios over the next two weeks.

In addition to the IFS-supplied Horizon and Foliant machines, which will have their UK debuts following the launch of both machines at Drupa, visitors will be given further info on Ryobi and Kodak's hybrid printing press.

Horizon's JDF-ready SPF/FC200L booklet production line incorporates all the existing features of the Japanese manufacturer's 4,500bph SPF/FC-200A bookletmaker, combined with the ability to feed A4 landscape sheets up to 640mm.

Mercury 400 SF, a laminator from Czech Republic-manufacturer Foliant, ties in with the "Print Efficiently" theme of IFS’ open house as it can laminate sheets on both sides in a single pass, resulting in reduced production time and output of 2,400 B3 sheets an hour.

IFS managing director Tony Hards said: "Print Efficiently 2012 is a great opportunity to highlight new systems and how their capabilities can support printers in their constant search to provide unparalleled service.

"The SPF/FC200L delivers substrate flexibility that helps printers expand their product portfolio while the Foliant Mercury helps reduce time consuming processes."

IFS will also be focusing on the hybrid print technology arising from the joint venture between Ryobi and Kodak at Print Efficiently, which runs from 9-11 and 16-18 October.

Representatives from both companies will be showing a video of a Ryobi B2 sheetfed offset-litho press fitted with Kodak’s Prosper heads to add variable information to the litho-printed product.

This specific combination is being beta tested at Komatsu General Print Co, based in Tokyo, Japan but it is expected that bespoke systems will be produced for each hybrid printer. Both Kodak’s Proper heads and Ryobi press will be appearing at the show, but the hybrid technology will not be shown in live demonstrations.

Other exhibitors at the IFS open house include Apex Digital Graphics, Antalis McNaughton, Roland DG, KAS Paper Systems, Perfect Document Creation, Shuttleworth Business Systems, Vpress, J&G Environmental, SCS Automaberg, Sun Chemical and Norsdon.

IFS’ Hards said: "The wide range of partners and expertise at Print Efficiently enables printers to address and understand ways to tackle a whole host of business challenges to help them improve their operations."
