The Digi-Foil, which the Kettering-based firm launched at the end of 2013, enables packaging specialists to create colour-accurate mock-ups in under ten minutes, days shorter than traditional processes according to the company.
The system uses a small-format Mimaki UJF 3042 or 6042 desktop printer together with a heated applicator to produce metallic foiling effects, with a range of colours, patterns, holographic images and security marks, without the need for foil presses or dies.
I-Sub Digital director Andy Spreag said: “The system can be used for absolutely any packaging that requires traditional foils. It’s aimed at any packaging company, design agency, digital printer or traditional litho, screen, flexo or pad printer.”
The A2 flatbed Mimaki UJF device uses LED UV curing technology and can print at up to 1,800dpi directly onto substrates and items up to 150mm thick.
Effects such as Braille can be added thanks to a clear varnish option.
The firm will be teaming up with cutting systems manufacturer Zünd at the show, to demonstrate the end-to-end potential of combining the Mimaki UJF with a Zünd S3 M-1600 cutting table.
