Heidelberg to launch Digital Front End at June open house

Heidelberg will launch its Digital Front End interface at a specialist open house that will take place at its national showroom in Brentford next month.

The event, which has the theme D2D, or Dedicated To Digital, will take place from 10am to 4pm on Wednesday 17 June.

The business has designed this interface for the new Ricoh-manufactured Linoprint digital press products.

“For those with the Heidelberg Prinect workflow, the Digital Front End will bring full integration with links into MIS and backwards JDF/JMF compatibility all the way through,” said digital business manager Chris Matthews.

“It’s going to give new users the ability to compose or makeready work in an offset fashion that they’re used to. It’s a pre-press workflow but it’s specifically dedicated to digital as well now.

“We’re also using the same Heidelberg renderer that we use for the Suprasetter so we expect to get excellent results when comparing with litho or matching potentially partial jobs where you’ve got to mix a bit of two technologies together.

“The Heidelberg colour management software will also be part of it. It’s an alternative to the standard, which has been Fiery for a long time, but I think it’s worth waiting for.”

Heidelberg will link the Linoprint CV and CP machines to a Tharstern MIS and an ROI 360 web-to-print system at the event.

The business is expecting the event to create new leads for the Linoprint devices as well as opportunities to close business.

The Linoprint CV and Linoprint CP machines, which are sold by OEM Ricoh as the Ricoh Pro C9100 and Ricoh Pro C9110, were launched earlier this year and replaced the Linoprint C751 and Linoprint C901 respectively.

The Linoprint CV offers the option of a fifth colour for white or clear varnish applications. It has options to produce either 80 or 90 A4ppm. The Linoprint CP has options to produce either 110 or 130 A4ppm.

“We’ve seen extreme success for these new models so far. There aren’t any other digital presses in the market that will do what these can do at the price point that they’re at,” said Matthews.

Heidelberg experts including Matthews, Prinect products specialist John Murphy and a number of other sales staff will be on hand to discuss general or specific enquires.

Also joining Heidelberg, ROI 360 and Tharstern at the free to attend event will be Polar, Morgana and The Magic Touch. For more information, and to register, visit: www.heievents.co.uk.
