Heidelberg reveals first details of 2014 open house

Heidelberg’s UK open house, set to take place during Ipex, will focus on success after the recession as well as delivering product announcements and demonstrations.

“We’ll be looking at what lessons have been learnt on surviving the recession, and how the industry can maximise on those lessons and be profitable. We’ll also be discussing where we think print will move over the next three or four years as we head towards 2020,” said Heidelberg UK managing director Gerard Heanue.

The two-day event, dubbed 2020 Vision, will provide a series of seminars and demonstrations delivered by the German press manufacturer as well as representatives from a number of other organisations taking part.

2020 Vision participants include Two Sides, HHS, IST, Morgana, Sappi, Technotrans, Gallus, Tharstern, Santander, Print Financial Services, and Winters.

A full upgrade to Prinect Workflow will be unveiled at the event that Heanue said would deliver improved MIS information to assist with costings as well as allowing users to upgrade online rather than requiring an engineer visit. “It’s much more user friendly and gives users more information.”

Meanwhile the manufacturer will deliver a presentation outlining the pros and cons of low energy UV (LE-UV) and the costs and expected ROI of getting involved in the technology.

“We will do a full analysis of LE-UV technology so that customers can decide whether it is right for them or not,” Heanue said. “There is a lot of hype around it at the moment and it isn’t right for everyone. There are a lot of additional factors people need to be aware of before they commit to it such as consumable costs and making their environmental conditions compatible.”

Demonstrations on the Polar PACE automated cutting system will also be a feature at the event.

Further details will be revealed in the coming weeks.

“We expect Vision 2020 to be very well attended with customers also coming from Sweden, Denmark and South Africa,” said Heanue.

“We will benefit in two ways – one is that people will be here for Ipex and will see it as an opportunity to visit Heidelberg as well, and there will also be those that are coming to Heidelberg anyway and will use the chance to visit Ipex so they can maximise their trip."

The event will take place at Heidelberg UK’s Brentford showroom on 27 and 28 March, from 10am to 5pm and 9am to 5pm respectively.
