Ditto 4 Design eyes capacity boost with new Xerox press and finishing kit spend

Commercial printer Ditto 4 Design has invested 100,000 in a new Xerox DC5000AP press and Morgana DocuMaster booklet maker in a bid to increase capacity.

The Hull-based company, which specialises in same-day print to local businesses and has a turnover of £200,000, made the investment after winning an award for its digital calendars from the Independent Network of Calendar Agents for the second year running.

The new press adds to the firm's existing DC5000 and other small digital printers.

Ditto 4 Design managing director Ron Fothergill said that business had already picked up since the machines were installed in June.

He said: "Our monthly figures are up by 25% so the investment should pay for itself quite quickly. After we won the first award for our calendars we found that business increased dramatically, so when we won a second award we purchased an additional press because we didn’t want to let any customers down."

Before investing in the Morgana Documaster, which has squarebacking and a perfect binder, Ditto 4 Design was making booklets by hand.

Fothergill added: "Handmaking the booklets was laborious and slow. We have already won a couple of local contracts because we have the Morgana Documaster. It’s not unusual for clients to want 100 copies of a 40-page document within a couple of hours, and keeping all the finishing in-house helps us achieve those tight deadlines."
