DGS Supplies boosts productivity with Mimaki investment

Construction equipment and supply company DGS Supplies has invested around £47,000 in a Mimaki JFX200-2513 LED UV flatbed printer to streamline its processes and meet customer demands.

The Dudley-based family-run company said the machine, which was bought from Mimaki reseller Printmax and installed in the past couple of months, was the perfect match for its requirements.

The new kit has replaced a Roland flatbed, which the firm part-exchanged.

As well as CMYK, the 2.4x1.2m JFX200-2513 LED UV flatbed printer offers white, clear and primer ink options. It produces high-quality output at speeds of up to 25sqm/hr and is able to print on a wide range of media up to 50mm thick.

LED UV technology keeps running costs down and the machine also has strong eco credentials, according to Mimaki.

DGS managing director Franc Moscato, who set up the business 20 years ago with wife Dianne, said: “We provide the construction industry with a large amount of safety signage, which is traditionally mounted onto rigid board.

“We made the investment in the Mimaki JFX200 flatbed in order to print direct-to-board and reduce time consuming finishing techniques.

“Not only has the JFX200 allowed us to cut out processes, but its fast print speeds and capacity to print multiple items on one run have meant we’ve seen a huge increase in our productivity without having to take on extra staff.”

Dianne Moscato added: “The quality can’t be compared to anything else, it’s second to none and, for us, it’s absolutely fantastic.”

Print manager Matt Shaw oversees the printing arm of DGS Supplies, which also operates two Roland VersaCamm SP-540V printers.

Shaw said: “After 10 years in the printing industry, the JFX200 is by far the best printer I’ve worked with. It’s simple to use and great quality and we received excellent training from Printmax.

“The whole process from when we ordered the JFX200, through to the four day installation and following support has been faultless.”

DGS Supplies, which has 10 staff and a turnover of around £1.5m, supplies print, signage, promotional goods, consumables and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to construction businesses.
