DC Thomson signs up to Wave2 Media's AdPortal

DC Thomson is set to roll out Wave2 Media's AdPortal3 print advertising workflow tool across its newspapers business six years after first installing the platform at one of its subsidiaries.

The Dundee-based publisher, which first installed Wave2's AdPortal and Marketplace software at its subsidiary Aberdeen Journals in 2006, will now implement the latest version of AdPortal across its newspapers business.

In addition, Aberdeen Journals (AJ), which publishes Scot Ads and the Press and Journal, will be upgraded from its existing version 1 environment to AdPortal3, bringing it on a par with the rest of the group.

Wave2 managing director Chris Hodges said: "We have enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with DC Thomson. In fact, much of the pioneering work for our original AdPortal solution was carried out with the staff at AJ.

"They were one of the very first publishers to introduce self-service advertising. We look forward to continuing to work with the team to innovate and see how we can further develop our solutions to help develop DC Thomson’s business."

Wave2's next generation AdPortal3 is being launched at this year's IFRA Expo in Frankfurt, Germany from 29-31 October. It introduces updated front-end architecture to allow a new level of versatile and configurable user journeys and presentation together with support for both web and mobile access.

Currently AdPortal is responsible for the booking of an average 4,350 adverts per week.
