Carolina Graphic Services adds second Manroland

Carolina Graphic Services announced it has purchase a new Manroland R906-6 LV, 56" six-color offset press with coater to be installed by year's end at its new production facility in the Greensboro, NC area.

In an interview with PrintWeek, Carolina Graphics Sales Manager Ron Woodward said the new press will complement an existing 64" six-color Manroland that was purchased in 2006.

He added: "We looked at a lot of presses both new and used but in the end we felt that having two machines side-by-side from the same manufacturer offered us a lot of synergies."

Carolina Graphics will have Manroland move both its old press and new R906-6 LV into its new facility and will use Manroland’s PRINTVALUE program offerings by purchasing a closed-loop inker upgrade and additional training.

Woodward said business for the company has been on the upswing, especially its large format work. "This new press can handle a lot of different substrates that are used for point of sale and point of purchase," he said, adding: "We do packaging as well."

In a release announcing the sale, Manroland sheetfed managing director, Michael Mugavero, said: "This investment, along with our recent super large format orders, builds upon the recent success the new manroland has achieved over the last six months. We believe the North American market now sees a reinvigorated manroland that is perfectly positioned to service our customers."
